This beautiful community of eucalyptus trees and hiking trails surrounds Miramar Lake and is immediately east of Mira Mesa. Scripps Miramar Ranch is one of two communities that make up the Scripps Ranch Community which was established in the 1890s and continues to proudly maintain its community motto, "Scripps Ranch - Country Living." Scripps Ranch is also home to some of the city's most scenic parks, beautiful community facilities, landscaped neighborhoods and business centers.

Scripps Ranch, California, is a coastal/inland community within the City of San Diego. It is located east of Interstate 15, North of Marine Corps Air Station Miramar, and South of Poway, CA.

Scripps Ranch was originally a 400 acre (1.6 km²) ranch owned by newspaper publisher E.W. Scripps.

In October 2003, a section of south Scripps Ranch was devastated by the Cedar Fire, destroying over 300 homes.

Alliant International University is an independent, not-for-profit, upper-division university formed in July 2001 as a result of a merger between California School of Professional Psychology (CSPP) and United States International University (USIU). Drawing on the legacies of both CSPP and USIU, Alliant continues to be dedicated to multiculturalism and internationalism. The University develops applied social scientists and professionals for practice in a global context. In 2005, US News & World Reports ranked Alliant International University the most international among national doctoral-intensive universities. Doctoral programs are currently being developed in collaboration with universities in Hong Kong and mainland China in an effort to aide in the advancement of the psychology profession in Asia.

The center is the newest recreation facility in the city, with a grand opening which took place on June 3, 2000. Included were many members of the Scripps Ranch Community who were also involved in the design of the facility. Facilities: Indoor gymnasium, multi purpose room with kitchen, classrooms, 2 lighted ball fields, 1 joint use field, lighted outdoor basketball courts, large turfed area, covered picnic shelters and barbeques with hot coal bins.
