The Linda Vista Community comprises about 2,400 acres. The
planning area is generally bounded on the south by Friars Road,
on the west by Interstate 5, on the north by Tecolote Canyon and
Mesa College Drive, and on the east by State Route 163. More information Linda Vista (Spanish for "Pretty View") is a community in San Diego, California, United States. It is east of Mission Bay, north of Mission Valley, and south-east of Tecolote Canyon. Many of the homes in Linda Vista were built in 1940 as part of a government project to house aircraft workers for the war effort. Linda Vista was home of the very first mall-type shopping center
in the United States, which was dedicated by Mrs. Eleanor
Roosevelt herself, in honor of this new planned community with
all the amenities that an American could want, including a movie
theater. She also visited Old Town of San Diego (known as the
birthplace of the California) at the foot of the Linda Vista

The facility is almost 12,000 square feet, located on more than 70 acres. Facilities: Outdoors there are multi purpose fields, two lighted and four unlighted ball fields, a tot lot, a BMX track, soccer field, comfort stations, picnic areas, fenced leash free dog parkand a swimming pool. Inside the rec center you will find an indoor gym, a game room and craft room, and a large meeting room which is available for rent. Call the center for details. Significant renovations took place in 1998.
